Are you a Jefferson County resident? Colorado Gives Foundation is pleased to cover your tour cost on Saturday April 27th from 10 am to 2pm at the Historical Park. Tour the five buildings at the park and see the new arrangements in the buildings decor.
Johnny Baker of Parker, Colorado will be bringing his chickens to our May Festival
Johnny bought his first baby chicks for a science class experiment at Laredo Middle School in Aurora. He started exhibiting poultry in the 1980’s as an FFA member at the Arapahoe County Fair, when the Fairgrounds were still located in Littleton.
Johnny has been Breeding and Exhibiting Show Quality poultry for over 40 years. In 2020, together with his daughter Abby, they won Reserve Grand Champion of Show at the National Western Poultry Show in Denver.
Johnny has been Judging youth poultry shows, including many County and State Fairs for over 30 years. He has also judged youth poultry showmanship competitions at American Poultry Association and American Bantam Association Nationally Sanctioned poultry shows.
Johnny will be sharing his tips and tricks for poultry. Please come with your questions concerning raising and exhibiting poultry.

May Festival ~ May 11 at the Historical Park May Pole Dances at 11 am & 1 pm. Learn about the history of the May basket and day. Enjoy music by the Golden Strings Bluegrass band, see the Model T Club automobiles, watch craft demonstrations, see a variety of chickens, play games and eat lunch from Buckaroo Enterprises a local food truck company.
Bikes, BBQ & Bingo ~ June 8th Join in the fun at the Baugh House for the best bicycle costume parade, followed by a ride on the Greenbelt ~ Helmets will be required. Learn about our local bike shops. Buy BBQ from Mile High Smokers. Play some bingo and win prizes.
Membership Appreciation Day ~ July 13 At the Historical Park ~ Potluck Picnic for members, community leaders, and residents. Do not miss this chance to learn about all the different clubs and organizations in our city. Learn about the Historical Society’s volunteer options and programs.
Bring your favorite dish to share we will have hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill! If you can bring plate and silverware too!
Earth Day ~Our April 13th social event was a perfect spring day where locals and members learned about the Leave No Trace program and about Reducing, Reusing and Recycling! Our hostesses Barbara Bankovich and Kassandra Rumbaugh of the Fruitdale Farm brought a wonderful lunch and Drew Rumbaugh gave a great talk on recycling.
Local kids made sock puppets and we hope they might give us a puppet show next month!
We will be learning about composting at our May event with our partners at Fruitdale Sustainable Neighborhood. We will also be collecting non-perishable food for local food banks! For more information go to
