150 year Celebration PDF Print E-mail

Wednesday, 11 March 2009

We are anxiously preparing for the 150th celebration of the Wheat Ridge Community .  The Celebration will take place on the 15th of August at the Baugh house on the corner of 44th and Robb St and at the Historic Park just north of the Historic Baugh House.  We are looking for Demonstrators of old crafts such as rug braiding, spinning of wool and flax, lace making, quilters, knitters, coopers, and any other craft that may have been done in the 1800's.  We are also looking for a Teamster to bring horses and perhaps demonstrate plowing for our guests.  All demonstrators will be on a voluntary basis.  But, participants may use this opportunity to advertise their business.  We will be giving space on this website for that purpose also.

The celebration will be from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday Aug 15th.

This celebration will be the same weekend as the Carnation Festival so we are hoping for a good attendance. Be sure and reserve this  date for an exciting trip back into time. All five buildings at the historic park will be open for visitors.

Remember we have a vast assortment of Oral History on CDs that have been collected over the past 32 years.  These histories tell what it was like in Wheat Ridge in the "Olden" days.  An excellent resource for students. They may be listened to at the museum or purchased for $7.00 a piece.
