The winds of March are blowing strong ushering in spring. Join us at the Baugh house for our Second Saturday Open House Saturday March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tour the log  cabin encapsulated within a Victorian 1900's house. Rock in the soothing rocking chairs while listening to old tyme stories of Wheat Ridge's past.

Our March Historic society meeting will be on March 14, 2017 at the Red Brick museum, 7pm social then 7:30 pm meeting. We will be discussing our upcoming May festival.

Speaking of the May Festival, mark your calendar for this upcoming fun event.
May Festival Saturday May 13, 2017 at the Historic Park 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The May pole dance is always a popular event and this year we are encouraging all local schools to join us. If enough schools plan to participate we may have a fun competition for them with prizes!!!

We are currently looking for an  Antique Appraiser to help with that part of the festival as the gentleman who has graciously donated his services in the past will not be available this year due to a prior commitment. So if you have or know someone who has this expertise we would appreciate the help, please give Jane our hostess a call at the museum.

This year we will also have a tree dedication ceremony in honor of Barbara  Bright, one of the White family daughters who was raised at the Soddy before moving to Maybell Colorado where she met Lyal Bright. They later made their home in Wheat Ridge where they raised three sons. Her sisters Elsie Heuerman and Nancy Southard will be here for the dedication. Although these sisters were very young when they lived at the soddy, they can tell you stories they heard growing up from the extended family.

As always I look forward to meeting more Wheat Ridge history buffs at our events and meetings!

Happy Spring

Janet "White" Bradford
