Excitement is building for our first festival of the year. We hope you will join us the Second Saturday of the month for our

May Festival Saturday May 13, 2017 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historic Park 4610 Robb Street.  A time to celebrate the arrival of spring, time to enjoy music, crafts, and community. We have family fun in store for all ages.

The ever popular May Pole Dance is a photo opportunity not to be missed!!! We have crafters showing and selling their wares. Thinking of learning to Quilt or Knit this is your opportunity to ask questions of crafters with years of experience. Like to sing old folk songs or play an instrument? Golden Strings Blue Grass will be here, join in with the local musicians.  There will be a tree dedication with many White Family members in attendance. ( I look forward to seeing my cousins, Courtland White is coming all the way from North Carolina)  We will have some plants for sale as well. Lunch is available for $6. Adults / $4. Kids (cash only please) or bring a picnic!!!  The implement shed will be open with tour guides to answer your questions about the old time equipment. Kids are usually amazed at how the old timers did the work by hand or harness. Did you ever wonder how they washed clothes back in the day?  See how much work it was just to keep a family in clean clothes on a wash board!

Crafters who would like to participate can contact  our Museum Hostess Jane Harvey at  -- 303-421-9111.

Meghan Godby at the Neighborhood Gazette wrote an excellent article in the April 18- May 15, 2017 edition about the Wheat Ridge Historical Society. Thank You Meghan!!!

We had some new members join us at our monthly meeting in April and look forward to seeing them and hopefully more at our upcoming May 9th meeting 7 pm at the Red Brick house 4610 Robb St. We will be finalizing the details for the May Festival. If you can volunteer for our event this would be a good meeting to attend for an assignment.

We are greatly encouraged by the recent donations to the Historic Society and we encourage you to talk with your relatives about the past, record their stories and share them with us. Antique items, old Wheat Ridge area photographs, year books and other memorabilia can be preserved for the future by donating them to the Historic Society.

The Wheat Ridge Quilt Circle will meet on May 24th from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Red Brick house.  Bring something to work on (or ask questions about) a show & tell item and a sack lunch if you wish!

The Wheat Ridge Historic Park at 4610 Robb St. Wheat Ridge is a great place to take your family for a picnic when school is out. For just a $2. donation you can sneak a history lesson in when you come by. Open Tuesday thru Friday 10 AM TO 3 PM  Let us know if you have a large group in advance and we can have more tour guides available.

Happy Spring
