ASSOCIATION OF NORTHERN FRONT RANGE MUSEUMS About the Association
Purpose The association was formed and incorporated as a not for profit corporation in Colorado on April 2, 1984, for the purpose of having an organization that would provide mutual support and promotion for member museums and museum professionals and to serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas, artifacts and exhibits, and as a clearinghouse for information, publications and assistance. The intent of the incorporators was to include museums in the northern front range of Colorado and schedule meetings and meeting places where relevant museum technical and operational subject matter would be presented and discussed . Volunteers Because of the importance of volunteers in the operation of member museums, the volunteers of all Association of Northern Front Range Museum members were invited to participate in a newly formed group on July 20, 1992, for the purpose of providing volunteers with the opportunity to meet other volunteers from other museums, learn more about other museums and the museum profession, become an integral part of the Front Range Museum community and enjoy the social benefits of scheduled meetings and luncheons. Professional and Volunteer Groups The Association of Northern Front Range Museums, ANFRM, is now comprised of two groups, the Professional Group and the Volunteer Group. The Professional Group’s responsibility is to address the technical aspects and administrative functions of a museum and the Volunteer Group provides the social networking contacts, and, appreciation and recognition of volunteer’s contributions to the museums. Administration The By-Laws provide for a Corporation President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer who preside over the Professional Group meetings, and a Board of Directors. The By-laws also provide for a President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Volunteer Group who preside over the Volunteer Group. Meetings Meetings of the Professional Group are scheduled twice a year on a second Monday of the month at a host museum, and the Volunteer Group meetings are scheduled at a host museum on the third Monday of April, June, August, and October, and the second Monday of February and December. Eligibility All museums whether public or private, within the general geographic area bounded by the Continental Divide on the west, Interstate 80 on the north, Highway 86 east from Castle Rock to Limon and then Interstate 70 east to the state line, and the eastern Colorado and Wyoming state lines to the north of Interstate 70, are eligible to become voting members. Membership period is January 1 to December 31 of each year with payment of dues in the amount of $25.00. All expenditures of the Association are funded entirely by the membership dues. Benefits Membership includes:· Opportunity to attend and participate in meetings and activities of the Professional and Volunteer Groups.· Opportunity to receive scholarships to the yearly Colorado Wyoming Association of Museums’ annual conference.· Opportunity for each member museum to be listed in the Association of Northern Front Range Museum’s directory brochure, updated every two years, with quantities available for each museum.
